On Friday, the awesome people at Bandai Namco Asia invited us to attend a launch event. We at The Technovore are old hands at going to these. Been to a ton of them…but this was the first time we were invited to a Pui Pui Molcar themed one! This one’s for Pui Pui Molcar: Let’s Molcar Party!
Despite being a male of considerable years, I love cutesy stuff. It’s a bit weird and cringe to be honest but hey, that’s who I am. I absolutely adore Pui Pui Molcar!
The show, which you can watch on Netflix, combines stop animation (at least it looks like it) with the weirdly wonderfully wooly Molcars, which are a combination of guinea pigs and cars. Oh, they’re regular car sized, and humans can ride in them, with the insides all pink and wooly!
Like I said, Molcars are weird but it’s a great show if you have young (or young at heart) kids! I definitely recommend it!
As I mentioned earlier, the Pui Pui Molcar event was actually to celebrate the launch of the new Pui Pui Molcar: Let’s Molcar Party! on the Nintendo Switch. We’ll have a review of the game in a while (I’m still playing it!). The launch event was held at HAKKEN! at Plaza Singapore and it was a really cozy affair!
That meant it fit right in with the theme!

Tucked away in a corner of the shop, the Molcars had an entire section to themselves. Snippets of the show was playing on a HUGE screen, some Pui Pui Molcar merchandize was on display (including a huge plushie of Potato that I would kill for) and there were also Nintendo Switch kiosks setup with Pui Pui Molcar: Let’s Molcar Party! running.
I gave the game a couple of plays (I played the petting and rhythm minigames) and found out that it was a pretty cool, if rather simplistic, affair. That’s right on for its target audience!
For kiddies (remember this is a kids’ game and series), there was also a section where they could put their colouring skills to the test. In return, they’d get a cute ass Pui Pui Molcar poster!

There’s even a Potato (he’s the beige Molcar with brown patches) standee where you nab photos with you pretending to be inside him. That…came out a bit weirder than I intended to.
All in all, the launch event’s pretty cool and I’m damn glad I came down! Thanks again for the invite Bandai Namco Asia!
Look out for our Pui Pui Molcar: Let’s Molcar Party! review coming in a few days!
