Seeing a Personal Mobility Device (PMD) almost everywhere is pretty natural now, but I’d be lying if I said that I’m not annoyed by it.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not criticizing the elderly folks as they need it due to their difficulties, and that’s quite alright with me.
The thing that annoys me; is the other group of people who are using PMDs despite having no difficulties at all, except for being lazy and a nuisance.

Here’s a great example, according to an LTA Facebook post, they managed to track down a PMD driver who is supposedly able-bodied, yet was driving around in a modified PMD on the road.
Multiple people have caught her on video, merrily abusing a PMD in order to make a quick buck as a food delivery driver. Ok, it’s admirable she’s doing that (nothing wrong being a delivery driver) but abusing the system to do it?
That’s just dirty.
Not only is she annoying everybody else, she’s also making things worse for those who do need PMDs to get around. PMDs already have a bad rep, she’s just adding fuel to the fire and those who do need PMDs are often paying the price with restrictions, bans and criticism.
All because of some eggs abusing the system with their antics.
When will we ever learn, I wonder?
I’m not against PMDs or their drivers. All I’m saying is the enforcement checks on making sure only the people needing PMDs need them should be tighter. Of course, it goes without saying, the punishment for breaking the rules should also be stronger to discourage those who are out to abuse the devices.
