The internet had been blowing up yesterday on December 15, when a 43-year-old woman was apprehended for behaving erratically. In the videos that were taken, the police were repeatedly accused of using force to handle the situation.
As it turns, according to Mothership, the police were called in for assistance with relation to a woman who was believed to be of unsound mind and creating a disturbance. The lady has now since been apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
First up, was that even force? They were holding her in place as she was struggling to get free. If you call that force, then you probably haven’t seen what happens in the US. And let’s be honest, I doubt anyone would have batted an eye if was a male in the situation.
Secondly, if that is considered the use of force in your books, then how else do you expect a policeman to handle a situation? By pampering? If it were that easy to do the frontline jobs, we wouldn’t be standing around taking videos and complaining about it fulltime. And it’s because of this constant scrutiny that no one hardly wants to get into such jobs in Singapore.
Lastly, no one even knew what was going on. No one knew who she was or anything about the situation. For all, we knew she could have been a highly dangerous individual on the run, but hey we are too busy whining about the cops doing their jobs.
And if you think you can do better than those cops, please click here to apply for SPF.
