It feels like only like yesterday that I was discussing regarding the Special Look trailer of the Mandalorian season 2 and yet here we are with the first episode under our belts. My expectations for this show has only gone up since the last season as I firmly believe its the only thing saving Star Wars right now.
I’ll be discussing certain aspects of the first episode so heads up on spoilers. And honestly, if you haven’t watched it yet, then you should get to it! Now that that’s out of the way; let’s dive into it!
The Krayt Dragon plan by the Mandalorian.
Fast-forwarding to the important bits of the show, the sand people team up with the townsfolk along with Mando in an uneasy alliance, to face off a Krayt Dragon. The original design of the creature seems to have gotten changed for the most part like missing horns for the show, but heck it still looks dangerous and terrifying!
A great battle ensues with terrific CGI portraying the Krayt Dragon in all of its glory which can only truly be appreciated by watching the episode. Mando gets the Play of the Game honour by entering the creature through its mouth, blows it up wide open from within and saves the day. In the end, everyone is safe, and Mando gets himself the reward he had requested earlier on the show which is Boba Fett’s amour.
There is a hidden easter egg in the show that shows the sand people getting a Krayt Dragon pearl from the carcass of the creature. If you’re a gamer or a fan, you’ll almost immediately realize that the pearl can function as a Kyber Crystal to power up lightsabers!
Foreshadowing.
As the show comes to a close, we get a short tease of the real Boba Fett watching the Mandalorian travel across the dune sea. It’s a smart setup for Boba Fett to reclaim his armour down the line and also find out why Mando is searching for others like him. Hopefully, that’s not the last time we get to see in the show, and I can’t wait for the next episode to air!
