Grocery vouchers are being stolen right out of letterboxes.

If you’ve been paying attention recently, you might have seen a lot of people using vouchers to pay for their groceries and necessities in places such as Giant and Prime supermarkets.

These vouchers were part of this year’s Unity Budget to assist low-income households with their ongoing struggles during this pandemic. This approach was to be a helping hand of sorts but has now become a prime opportunity for thievery.

On October 11, several letterboxes in Redhill were forcibly tampered with, and the contents of the vouchers stolen. SingPost and the Police are currently investigating the matter, and are encouraging residents to collect their vouchers at the earliest.
